Sebastian Bialecki has just etched his name into darts history with an astonishing 38 consecutive wins and three titles on the Development Tour in Milton Keynes. This incredible feat not only shattered previous records but also cemented his lead at the top of the rankings, likely marking his final appearance on the junior circuit as he eyes a move to the sport’s senior elite. Fellow competitor Leon Weber also had a strong showing, reaching a final and staying firmly in the race for a coveted Tour Card and a World Championship spot.

The third of five Development Tour weekends in Milton Keynes witnessed a performance for the ages as Polish darts prodigy Sebastian Bialecki delivered an utterly dominant display, setting a new benchmark in the 16-year history of the tour.

Bialecki’s Historic 38-Win Streak and Triple Crown

Known as “Bolt,” Sebastian Bialecki has been a name on many lips in the darts world, with real prospects of making his World Matchplay debut and being considered a dark horse for the upcoming World Cup of Darts alongside Krzysztof Ratajski. His recent form strongly suggests an imminent entry into the top 64 of the world rankings, a move that would preclude him from competing on the Development Tour under new rules (previously, only top 32 players were excluded).

Bialecki seemed determined to make his presumed final Development Tour weekend count, embarking on an unparalleled winning spree:

  • He secured an incredible 38 consecutive victories, completely pulverizing the previous record of 23 wins held jointly by Wessel Nijman and Jack Drayton.
  • He clinched three titles over the weekend, adding to a previous win from April’s tournament block.

A Weekend of Unmatched Dominance

His performance in the first tournament was nothing short of spectacular. Bialecki maintained a tournament average of over 98 points, dropping a mere 8 legs across 8 matches. He overcame formidable opponents, including:

  • Jurjen van der Velde
  • Jack Drayton
  • Cam Crabtree (all top 5 ranked players)

He delivered a stunning 109-average whitewash against Jamai van den Herik in the semi-finals, before triumphing over David Fidler in the final.

Bialecki continued his winning ways in the second event, defeating Cam Crabtree 5-1 in the final. Adam Gawlas came closest to stopping him in the semi-finals (5-3). His relentless form extended into Saturday, where he secured his fourth consecutive title (including the previous block’s final event). Fittingly, he defeated Leon Weber in that final, the very player who had won the last tournament before Bialecki’s streak began.

The streak finally ended at 38 wins in a row, with Angelo Balsamo defeating him 4-1 in the last 64 round on Saturday at 5:27 PM local time.

Other Standout Performances

While Bialecki dominated, other players also made their mark:

  • Leon Weber: Reached a final, significantly boosting his chances for a PDC Tour Card and a spot at the World Championship. He demonstrated strong form with multiple 90+ averages.
  • Cam Crabtree: Despite losing twice to Bialecki, he showed resilience, reaching multiple finals and ultimately winning the fourth tournament of the weekend, beating Nathan Potter in a tight 5-4 finish.
  • Adam Gawlas: Managed to break Bialecki’s hold in the final tournament of the weekend, securing a 5-3 victory against the Pole after losing their previous two encounters. Gawlas displayed incredible grit, surviving a deciding leg in Round 1 and match darts in the Last 16.
  • German Contingent: Florian Preis reached a semi-final, keeping him in the top 10. Finn Behrens made two consecutive quarter-final appearances. Dominik Grüllich, Yorick Hofkens, and Jarod Becker also had strong runs, with Becker and Hofkens facing each other in a quarter-final.

Development Tour Rankings Update

Bialecki’s incredible weekend has reshaped the Development Tour Order of Merit:

  • Sebastian Bialecki now holds a commanding lead with £21,900, a significant £11,250 ahead of second-placed Jack Drayton. This lead is crucial, as it could secure him a spot in the Grand Slam of Darts at the end of the season.
  • Leon Weber climbed to fifth position, putting him in a current World Championship qualifying spot.
  • Dominik Grüllich is currently seventh.
  • Florian Preis and Finn Behrens are both in the top 20.
  • Yorick Hofkens sits at 21st.

The Development Tour continues from July 31st to August 2nd with five more tournaments scheduled in Hildesheim, Germany.
