Darts, like life itself, is a journey of exhilarating highs and crushing lows, often within a remarkably short span. This season, I’ve personally navigated that unpredictable path, experiencing firsthand how quickly fortunes can turn on the oche.

The WADC Challenge: A Fresh Start

The Women’s Amateur Darts Championship (WADC) stands as a beacon for female darts players, offering exceptional opportunities, facilities, and officiating. Despite its excellent setup, my past performances at WADC events have been, to put it mildly, inconsistent. While I did reach a final in 2024, ultimately losing to the formidable Lisa Ashton, I often attributed my struggles to a lack of full commitment, frequently missing weekends vital for qualification.

This season, I made a firm promise to myself: I would dedicate my full effort to at least one of the WADC’s North or South divisions. This decision proved to be a pivotal moment.

Northern Triumph: A Season’s Peak

My journey began with the North Division events in Middlesborough, and the results were nothing short of spectacular. It felt like a true resurgence, playing with a level of form I hadn’t consistently shown on the WADC platform before.

Key Achievements in the North Division:

  • Tournament Victory: I secured a significant event win, demonstrating strong form throughout, including in the stage final.
  • Second Finalist: Reached another final, ultimately being knocked out by the equally impressive Kim Holden, who also had an outstanding weekend.
  • Consistent Performance: Achieved two quarter-final appearances, consistently performing close to my ‘under the radar’ best.

This period was a genuine high, affirming my decision to fully commit and showcasing the potential I knew I had.

Southern Struggles: A Stark Contrast

Following the success in the North, the South Division events at Bradmoor Farm presented a completely different narrative. To say it was the reverse would be an understatement; it was a challenging period with no significant runs or strong performances. My results barely registered on the division’s leaderboard, a stark contrast to the previous leg of the season.

The PDC Women’s Series: Elite Competition

My experience at the recent PDC Women’s Series mirrored the unpredictable nature of my season. While I played some decent darts, the ever-increasing depth and talent in the ladies’ game meant that even good performances often yielded little reward. I had opportunities to challenge top players like Fallon Sherrock, but crucial misses became a recurring theme, preventing me from making deeper runs in the tournaments.

Celebrating Success: Vicky Pruim’s Dual Achievement

Finally, a huge congratulations is in order for Vicky Pruim. Her dedication and skill have deservedly earned her a place on the honor roll at the PDC Women’s Series. What’s more, she now joins an exclusive club of players who have also triumphed in the WADC Championship. Her success is a testament to perseverance and talent in the competitive world of women’s darts.
