Young darts sensations Macy Gibbons and Archie Self have emphatically claimed the Youth and Girls titles at the prestigious England Classic in Selsey. Both players secured dominant 5-1 victories, with Archie Self showcasing an exceptional 94.83 average in the Youth final. Macy Gibbons completed an incredible “clean sweep” of major UK and Ireland girls’ titles this year, solidifying her status as a rising star.

Archie Self: “The Archer” Strikes True in Youth Final

Archie ‘The Archer’ Self demonstrated incredible precision and speed in the Youth final, overpowering Addison Hefferon with a commanding 5-1 victory. Self secured the title in just 14 minutes, boasting an impressive 94.83 average.

He set the tone early, winning the opening leg in just 13 darts, leaving Hefferon far behind. Although Hefferon briefly countered in the second leg, that was his only success.

Self then relentlessly claimed the remaining legs with superb darting, finishing them in 15, 17, 16, and 16 darts respectively, sealing his triumph with a double eight.

Macy Gibbons: Completing an Unprecedented Clean Sweep

The Girls’ final saw Macy Gibbons face Elsie-Mai Tarrant, and while the match flow differed slightly, the outcome was equally decisive. Gibbons secured a 5-1 victory, adding the England Classic title to her growing collection.

This particular win is highly significant as it marks a remarkable achievement for Gibbons: a ‘clean sweep’ of all major WDF Girls’ titles across the UK and Ireland this year. Her dominant season includes victories at:

  • Scottish Open
  • Isle of Man Classic
  • England Open
  • Welsh Open
  • British Open
  • England Classic

The match began tightly, with Gibbons taking the first leg on double four. Tarrant quickly responded, leveling the score at 1-1 with a 32 finish. However, much like the Youth final, this was Tarrant’s only successful leg.

Gibbons then took control, winning the third leg on double five, followed by a 72 checkout in two darts for the fourth. A crucial 171 score in the fifth leg set her up for another 32 finish, and she wrapped up the match in the sixth leg on double six. Gibbons maintained a solid 65.61 average throughout the match, compared to Tarrant’s 55.61.

What’s Next for the Champions?

Following their impressive victories, both champions were scheduled to return to the oche later that evening to compete in further high-stakes matches:

  • Archie Self was set to challenge Callum Francis in the Final of the England Masters Open.
  • Macy Gibbons was preparing to compete against Anca Zijlstra for the England International Open title.
