This past weekend on the PDC Challenge Tour, youth truly took center stage as 19-year-old Florian Preis and 22-year-old Nathan Potter both clinched their maiden PDC titles. Adding to the excitement, seasoned darts player Ted Evetts secured his impressive fourth Challenge Tour victory, showcasing a thrilling blend of emerging talent and experienced skill. These three tournaments delivered drama, high averages, and plenty of memorable moments, proving the future of darts is bright.

Ted Evetts’ Dramatic Comeback at Challenge Tour 8

The weekend kicked off with Challenge Tour 8, which saw a strong British presence dominating the later stages. After Switzerland’s Bruno Stöckli and Italy’s Michele Turetta made it to the quarter-finals, the final four consisted of three Englishmen and one Welshman. Derek Coulson continued his excellent form, though he ultimately fell to Ted Evetts in the semi-finals. ‘Super Ted’, who finished third on the Challenge Tour last year, was eager to overcome a somewhat slow start to his season. In the final against Aden Kirk, Evetts looked set for an easy win, leading 4-1. However, he missed multiple match darts, allowing Kirk to claw his way back. ‘The Captain’ also stumbled, missing three match darts of his own, before Evetts finally clinched a dramatic 5-4 victory, securing his fourth title at this level.

  • Quarter-Final Highlights:
    • Derek Coulson 5-0 Bruno Stöckli
    • Ted Evetts 5-4 Jack Aldridge
    • Aden Kirk 5-4 Matthew Dennant
    • Graham Usher 5-4 Michele Turetta
  • Semi-Final Highlights:
    • Ted Evetts 5-4 Derek Coulson
    • Aden Kirk 5-4 Graham Usher
  • Final: Ted Evetts 5-4 Aden Kirk

Florian Preis Breaks Through at Challenge Tour 9

The second tournament of the weekend, Challenge Tour 9, saw a break in the British dominance. The spotlight fell on Germany’s Florian Preis, a remarkable 19-year-old talent who was a finalist at last year’s WDF Youth World Championship. Preis impressively defeated current tour leader Joe Hunt with a convincing 5-1 scoreline, then followed up with another 5-1 victory over Lewis Pride to reach the final. For the second consecutive final, Aden Kirk was the opponent. Once again, it was a heartbreaker for Kirk, who squandered four match darts. Preis, however, showed no mercy, seizing the opportunity to claim his first-ever PDC title with a clinical finish.

  • Quarter-Final Highlights:
    • Llew Bevan 5-4 Danny Trueman
    • Aden Kirk 5-1 James Beeton
    • Lewis Pride 5-4 Steve Haggerty
    • Florian Preis 5-1 Joe Hunt
  • Semi-Final Highlights:
    • Aden Kirk 5-4 Llew Bevan
    • Florian Preis 5-1 Lewis Pride
  • Final: Florian Preis 5-4 Aden Kirk

Nathan Potter’s Dominant Display at Challenge Tour 10

The final tournament of the weekend, Challenge Tour 10, brought more excitement and a new champion. Aden Kirk’s tough weekend continued as he exited early, losing in the last 256. This event saw Poland’s Radek Szaganski bravely carry the hopes of the non-British players, reaching the final after strong wins against Harry Ward and Danny Goddard. However, he was ultimately outmatched by the exceptional talent of Nathan Potter, a 22-year-old rising star. Potter had already showcased his incredible form in the quarter-finals with an outstanding 104.13 average. He replicated this brilliance in the final, hitting a 101.13 average en route to a dominant 5-1 victory, earning him his well-deserved first PDC title.

  • Quarter-Final Highlights:
    • Radek Szaganski 5-4 Harry Ward
    • Danny Goddard 5-4 Tommy Lishman
    • Nathan Potter 5-2 Jack Aldridge
    • Derek Coulson 5-0 Keegan Brown
  • Final: Nathan Potter 5-1 Radek Szaganski

The PDC Challenge Tour continues to be a crucial platform, consistently unveiling the next generation of darts superstars and providing thrilling moments for fans worldwide.
