Organised by Markus Kessler, this premier tournament boasted a total prize fund exceeding €7,000 and welcomed 249 enthusiastic participants. The local community center underwent an impressive transformation, featuring a state-of-the-art darting setup with 48 boards, creating an exceptional atmosphere for a weekend of competitive darts.
While many players hailed from the region, the Syndicate Open also drew considerable attention from the professional circuit. The field included three current PDC Tour Card holders and numerous players with experience from the European Tour and even the World Championship, making for a truly star-studded debut.
Gold Round Glory: Merk’s Epic Comeback
Almost all the top seeds advanced to the highly anticipated Gold Round, but it was World Championship participant and Tour Card holder Arno Merk who ultimately claimed the coveted title. His journey to victory, however, was anything but straightforward.
A Path Paved with Challenges
From the early stages, Merk faced formidable opponents. In the Last 32, he battled Marvin Kraft, enduring a nail-biting encounter where he survived multiple match darts before finally triumphing in a decisive leg. This dramatic win set the tone for his resilient performance throughout the tournament. He then secured a 4-2 victory over Daniel Klose, followed by another 4-2 success against Thomas Natusch. In the semi-finals, Merk delivered a convincing 5-2 performance against Ron Leon Kolberg, earning his spot in the final.

The first title of the Syndicate Open was decided on Saturday in the Doubles Tournament. The formidable pairing of Daniel Klose and Marvin Kraft showcased their synergy, securing a dominant 6-1 victory in the final against Arno Merk and Markus Kessler. Dragutin Horvat and Sven Hesse claimed third place, defeating Erik Hildebrandt and Robert Rolle.
